The SIMPLE method

"Masterpoints" must pose the same problem as "titles" in this regard.
The bad player would win a little bit more masterpoints than he really should. If we assume that the players all know their true relative strength and act accordingly. Or would he? This must be a std. game theory problem.
The "worst" player would put the lowest equity on himself, thus put forth the lowest bid of the group. However, if he knows, that the other players know, that he's the worst, he must assume that none of them would bid 1/3 worth of the total pool ie. he could go up to that amount or maybe a tad higher. IF one of the other players should go below 1/3 anyway and "win" the bid, the worst player would then play on in the final with a little "added" money.
Is it possible to calculate the optimal bid in this scenario, given you know the 3 players relative strength?

Bob: There's an even more likely scenario considering masterpoints (ABT points). Suppose you need a win, you'd just place a very high bid and go from 33% chance to pull it off, to 50%. You could seek the volatility needed.
