The SIMPLE method

Could two players cooperate with regards to their bidding at the expense of the third?
It's a valid objection, though it's worth noting that collusion is already possible in any normally bracketed tournament by one player purposely losing or forfeiting to the other in exchange for compensation. Granted, a bye auction makes it easier for players to act unethically. It hadn't occurred to me that ABT points might be that important to some.
By the same token, there is the matter of affecting the calcutta (if that animal is not extinct). One could disallow the bye low-bid option when there is a calcutta and/or when a finalist is within x ABT points in the last y months of the year (or simply never allow it) and in that case only option (a) or (c) listed in the second-to-last paragraph here would be implemented.
