Isn't the par discussion ridiculous? They don't change par on a hole unless they change something else on the hole too, so it is comparing apples to oranges.

Like Bill says the fairways are not really that wide on Congressional and on some of the holes, they have changed the cut since last time around - in effect lengthening the holes (due to forcing players to play more dog leg).

Mike Davis says today's course will play fairly easy, because of unexpected rain this morning. Greens will still be soft and putting a bit easier. Of course it also means less roll on the drives, but Mike says that tee boxes are setup short on the longer holes to get more aggressive play (eg. going for the par 5s in 2 or going for the flag on difficult par 4s rather than middle green).

It will be fun to follow :-)
