Fairer Method When Exactly Three Players Remain In Draw

I don't play tournament bg, so maybe what I have to say is all wet, but it seems to me that the fairest way to deal with a 3-way tie is to settle it over the board - coin-flips, auctions, etc don't do it for me. (c:
I like Phil's idea of a round robin session among the three players, but a single 11-point match would lead to a three-way tie too often. So how about a round-robin of multiple shorter matches among the three? That would end in a tie far less often, and if it is tied they could play extra rounds until the tie is broken. You could do one-pointers, three-pointers, or even money play.
A variation would be to use the round robin to eliminate one player and have the remaining two play a normal length match for the title.
Or yet another variation would be to play a single round-robin with the winner getting the bye. Repeat as necessary until one of the three has a better record than the other two.
And if anyone complains that it's somehow unfair to have the tourney decided by a DMP game or a 3-pointer, merely point out that many long matches eventually come down to 3-away 3-away or DMP.
Just throwing out some ideas....
