Okay, i think i found it.

btw, if there are any developper intrested http://freeclipboardviewer.com/ turned out to be the perfect tool for troubleshooting these problems.

The problem is due to the fact i was calculating the size of the fragment before converting the string to UTF8. Because the TTF font use characters with code > 127 these are converted into multiple bytes and make the utf8 string longer.

I suspect Word crashes if the endfragement ends up cutting the UTF8 in mid character.

hopefully, this should fix the Openoffice pasting problem also.
