Penalty kicks

Nothing in terms of systematic observations. But own observations:

I was a brute force kicker myself, and I would not miss more under pressure than without pressure. You aim 1-2 meter to the side of the keeper and kick full force. Basically I would miss if I shot wide (occasionally) high (almost never because of my kicking style and foot placement) or if I would hit the keeper (occasionally). Nerves cannot really mess up this style of penalty kicks.

If you are using finesse, you try to send the keeper the wrong way, or you try to place the ball in the far corners, and you kick the ball with less force. With nerves, this can go wrong in many ways, your aim can be off, movements that should send the keeper the wrong way can be messed up, from your eyes the keeper may guess where you are going to kick and thus be there in time, etc.
