Hi Paul,

Cheers to you. It's been a super long time.

"Checkers in the zone": I could have said that first, but more likely Paul Magriel first said that or something close enough. I know I rolled out enough blitz variations to greatly appreciate the importance of having men to work with relative to your opponent's position on the other side, whether your blitz had some prime back-up, etc.

The following I intend to mention just once, lest it appear this has undue importance to me: I was #1 in 1993, #2 in 1995 due to two voters not putting me on their ballot at all, and #1 again in 1997. Nack is incredible and I consider him a backgammon friend, certainly. Any difference between us back then had to be ultra-fractional if at all. (And Senk was right there, too, at the time). Nack's home page and gaming record is awesome enough, so I was a little surprised at the reference to Nack being the only player to achieve #1 status more than once. There - I've said it.

I can easily imagine attending a tournament a year somewhere, beginning in a couple of years. We'll see.
