It was a bit hard to believe at first, but it does seem XG is not that strong in this area. I just played a few rounds with XG+ starting with each player having 15 men on his 12 point. I chose the 12 point to see if the 6's issue that was mentioned was real. But XG still stacked up to his 7-point and buried checkers to his 1 and 2 point when it didnt have to. I had little trouble reaching positions where the probability I win on the last roll was greater than his.

One thing to note though is that I did not extend the EPC database beyond the default inner board. I suppose if I were to generate the bearoff database out to the 13-point if it could play optimally and beat me every time.

If the database is created, would it play optimally even on 1-ply setting?
