Blue is Player 1XGID=-b----E-C---dE--ac-da---B-:0:0:1:42:0:0:3:0:10 41$-42 These are the rules (as I understand them):
- The Up family is a double-letter family. Letters are assigned in the sequence U, V, u, v, U, V, u, v, ...
- The destination(s) for moves in this family always lie between the 24pt and the 18pt.
- By definition, the play(s) that moves up the farthest takes precedence over other plays.
- In case of a tie, the hit/most/six rule is applied.
With 41$-42, the farthest one can play is up to the 18pt. There are two moves that do so: 24/20*/18 and 24/22/18. To resolve the tie, one applies the hit/most/six rule. By the hit convention, U = 24/20*/18 and V = 24/22/18.
After that, come the plays that do not move out to the 18pt. Here, there is only one, 24/22, 24/20*. It is assigned the letter u.
So, why do I instinctively want to reserve the letter V for 24/22, 24/20*?
