I think you like to take a bit more loosely as weaker players on positions where you lose a lot of gammons but win quite a lot of games...

The problem with this type of game is there is still a lot of play left in the game and the weaker player will give away a lot more equity after taking the cube. I'm not suggesting the weaker player shouldn't also be taking the types of positions you mentioned, esp. due to the stronger player's real gammon value being reduced and weaker player's heightened, but tossing out something else to think about.

I think as a weaker player early in a match you'd prefer to double a bit early, not to pass a little late.

Ideally, perhaps. Again we hit the snag though of having to play out more complicated positions. However, we have the same aforementioned bonuses and the leader's crippled recube vig in general assuming the weaker player knows what he's doing...which is a lot to assume.
