US/Europe

Having worked now for a few years in the US and many more years throughout all Europe and further, my experience is that Backgammon in Europe is perceived differently than in Europe:
Entry fees of major events are much higher in Europe than in the US.
Money does matter in Europe. In US, itīs more about the challenge and the competition.
US players are probably the oldest players in the world. Danes, Japanese and Iranians are probably the youngest players in organized backgammon.
US players generally not open to changes. They like things to remain the way they are used to (age?), whereas Europe is more receptive towards innovations, structures, new side-events, formats, etc.
