At first thoughtless glance the play seems clear, but let's go through it. 7/3* -> 9 fans, but all of White's entering numbers are very good except 2-6. Most send 1 or 2 more checkers back, and Blue's timing seems poor for a back game. The fans are great for Blue, but leave a lot to do. 10/6 -> Well, this sucks too. 26 numbers make White's 8 point, and another 8 numbers at least make the 22 point anchor, putting an end to Blue's slim blitzing chances. But I think that if White doesn't make the 8 point he has to lift, so Blue's still has 6s and 5s out and aces play up. If White makes the 8, Blue has 6s out, and another checker to attack with, if White hasn't anchored up. So that's not hopeless.

For me it looks like 10/6 leads to a bad position for Blue, but 7/3* is worse. But if I stop to think, as I should, what the DMP play should be, then I play 7/3* at DMP. So "worse" at non-DMP really means: 7/3* wins more, but loses too many gammons.
