You didn't take my advice? :)
A typical offense vs. defense decision -- anchor or make a great homeboard point. I see Brown has 10 checkers in the zone and anywhere from 4 to 6 of them are happy to relocate. I'm pushed towards defense and start with 22/21. BTW, I recall (hopefully correctly) some advice from Robertie in Advanced Backgammon -- when you own the cube, tend towards small gains as opposed to swinging for the fence. Just the opposite (but the key word is 'tend' so don't go overboard) when opp owns the cube. I interpret this to be prefixed "when two competing plays look close..."
The checker on the 11-point looks better there than on the 9-point since it is a bit safer and it plays a 6 (which might be needed if entering another from the bar) much better from the 11-point. The checker on the 16-point also looks better there than on the 14-point since it is 'protected' by the back checkers. That leaves 7/5, putting that checker in a better place (with the downside that if it gets hit that's also a better place for opp to be).
22/21, 7/5
BTW, I'm intentionally ignoring your subject line. I don't take hints well.
