Moneygames against xg

I see a bunch of "unusual" positions when playing XG. I don't think there is much to that explanation and if there is something to it it is balanced by unusual positions reached by XG's great play. A few years ago for example who was slotting points for a smoth followup instead of just making them when playing a holding game? Who was doing the timing wrecking plays when attacking a backgame?
