White is XG Roller++

score: 0
pip: 127
5 point match
pip: 139
score: 3

Blue is BGO Readers

Blue to play 62

The most natural play, in appearance, has us relinquishing the midpoint in favor of our 11pt.
I don’t really care for it, however, because I want to keep pressure on XG’s midpoint. Still, it’s not all bad. In all likelihood, we would get one or more direct shots as XG comes home, even without our midpoint.

An advantage to clearing the midpoint is that doing so secures our timing. If we hold the midpoint, and don’t want to leave any shots, then we’re stuck slotting our points out of order. With this roll we can play 8/2 7/6 or 8/2 6/4, but neither one is particularly attractive.

Against XG’s inner board blot, I would rather leave a shot on the 11pt, with $ (Slot) = 11/3, than make either of the safe plays. XG would have 5 hit-and-cover numbers, however, any of which could be devastating. Even were we not hit, we would have 66 pips tied up holding the 13pt and 20pt. We could get into timing trouble downstream.

I guess I should not fight the dice.

D (Down) = 13/11, 13/7
