Transcriptions

I don't see anything inappropriate in the stance of asking permission to publish transcribed matches. The person or organization doing the transcribing is voluntarily agreeing to seek permission. This doesn't reject the notion that the itself match is in the public domain and the player has no legal or ethical right to prevent publication. Anyone willing to do the transcribing can make the match public. Why MUST a person or organization publish a match just because they transcribed it? They can and should be free to publish or not publish the match as they please. If a person transcribes a match with the assistance of an organization, they need to follow any conditions set by the organization before the transcription. If they don't like the conditions, they can still do the transcription without the organization's assistance. If that can't do the transcription without the organization's assistance, that's tough shit. The organization isn't obligated to help them. Similarly, the restriction of access of the transcripts to membership is within the rights of the organization. If they tried to prevent someone else who created a transcript from making it public that would be different and inappropriate. This is about freedom, not what someone in an ivory tower dictates as "best".
If someone doesn't like the actions of an organization, they can express their feelings, especially if they are a member. But let's acknowledge that the organization has the freedom to make this choice.
