Ripping 4 will leave also a very vulnerable position when blue plays for a second checker after a hit. The added crossovers are worthless. That will perhaps win more gammons, but also lost much more games.

But what about 5/4*/3*(2)? That will win also 2 crossovers. Wash it out of the hair now. Could be a contender.
