Do we want 6 or 7 checkers on the 3pt?

This probably does not matter very much.

Putting a seventh checker on the 3pt could get us into trouble if we are not hit and then roll back-to-back high doublets. Otherwise, if we are not hit, a third checker on the 1pt gives us better diversification for the bear off.

In case we are hit, having an extra checker on the 3pt will make it harder for the opponent to pick up a second checker.

Nactation: Moves in the Attack family jump into the inner board with one die, and move completely within the inner board with the other. Of the two plays that do that, 7/3 6/1 and 7/2 6/2, the one that lands a checker closest to the 6pt ranks higher. Thus 7/3 6/1 gets the capital letter.
