What is a Trice wave?
When bearing in/off against contact, place your checkers so that they look like a wave breaking over the opponent's anchor(s). Rearmost point stripped (to prepare to clear it) and the most spares on the middle point.
This was described in Backgammon Bootcamp, and is just a rule of thumb.
I'm still scratching my head over why 7/6 is mandatory... begin to clear that point now while white doesn't want to (or shouldn't) hit?
