Missing the 6 is huge. You can only expect to bear off two checkers in the next two rolls and you leave shots sometimes.

Sure the bad opponent distribution counts big against.

Perfect bear-off vs 5 off and no gaps is ~22%. One fewer off is probably 5% worse? 17%, which is close to the 18%. Messed up distribution another 3 or 4? The immediately open 6... Has to count for at least a whole roll over a perfect closed board with spares on the 456. Maybe 1.5+ rolls.

Has to be a take. Open 6 is huge and chance of leaving a shot is big when opponent dances.
