There was no player quite like Matt!

Matt, Phil, and I were playing outside Mike's (Chicago restaurant). Matt was in the Box, I was Captain, and after I rolled a joker, Phil and I redoubled. The rule in our chou was that you had to beat the Captain - only - to retain the Box. Matt picked up my cube, kissed it, and placed in the tray on his side of the board. Then he picked up Phil's, gave it the evil eye, and flung it. Had Bill Bartholomay been playing that day the chouette might have lost a player to the Atlanta Braves. The cube crossed State Street on the fly, and nearly decapitated one of the yuppies outside Starbucks.

Phil got up and trotted after it. Matt and I looked at the contrail left in the wake of the flying cube. I turned to him and asked: "Was that a pass?"

RIP buddy!
