Yes, of course there is value in looking at the position pair (or I wouldn't have bothered doing so myself). I was pointing out an unrelated oddity (and my use of the word "serious" was tongue-in-cheek).

For anyone who might be interested, it's actually quite unusual to see a position presented in a book that can't somehow be reached from the opening position through strong play. I can't remember the last time I saw one.
