8/6 isn't pointless. The point about playing 8/6 is that it doesn't harm our position like 13/11 does. The problem with 13/11 is not so much getting hit now but that it is a liability to be cleaned up later after our opps enter when we'd rather be concerned with hopping our checkers out from the back.

Do we want to make the 11 pt? ..NO!

Do we want to make our bar pt with 61 if we don't play 8/6? No we'd rather escape 20/13.

Do we want to make the bar pt with 41 or 64 after playing 13/11? I think we'd rather play those rolls with out back checkers as well.
