USBGF Legal Moves Policy

There is no question that over time this rule can be adjusted and improved, but it is a wonderful start and an excellent document in every respect. Congratulations and thanks to Pat Gibson and his Rules Committee, to Bill Riles and the board for their work in doing this.
It is extremely important to note that the USBGF is nothing more than a democratic organization of the players, and even if you don't like Legal Moves, it's an easier pill to swallow that the rules are being made by the players themselves, rather than a few individuals who have no authority except for their ability to make rules for their own tournaments and clubs.
Many will never agree that Legal Moves is better. They have excellent arguments against it, and I see their point. There is a trade-off, and most of the players and the world have clearly voted in favor of Legal Moves.
By taking this stand the USBGF and its members are saying not only what they prefer relative to this rule, but also that the organization of the players in the US want to have rules that are in line with the rest of the world so that we can work toward uniformity...something that is important in any legitimate sport or game, as we truly are an international group of people who travel and play each other on line and live all over the world.
Note that the USBGF should not be above accepting criticism, suggestions and feedback, and should be open to changing and improve this and any rule or policy if needed. Ego should not be a limiting factor in continuous improvement and the ability to move forward. I can see several small changes and areas that might be better defined or better written (in my opinion) and I am sure others will find some. Please think of this as a "first draft" that can and will be improved.
Great job!
