I take it you mean why is 16/6 a blunder. Although it doesn't waste pips this roll, it limits the choice of how you bear in the last straggler - you are more likely to have to bear it in such that you end up missing (and creating more wastage) when you subsequently roll 4's and 5's in the bearoff. In these types of positions, with two stragglers still to bring round **and** a crunched board, it's a good idea to keep the stragglers close to each other to give you more choice as to which points to bear them in onto. E.g. bearing a checker in to the 5-point might waste a pip, but the misses on the 4 and 5 gaps will be significantly more damaging.
