I would say close the gap and get the back man as close to home as possible. Not moving him leaves 4 shots. Moving him 1 leaves 6 shots. Moving him 2 leaves 9 shots. But, and I think this is a big but (like a Kardashian), moving him 2 makes it far more likely that he gets home safely sooner. The longer he's not coming home the more shots you have to add to the cost of not moving him. That would be my argument.
