rip 2. 4/off, 2/off. If we get hit, our chances of winning are much better with 6 checkers remaining than with 7 checkers remaining to bear off. Also, our backgammons increase substantially, and the cube is at 2.

The backgammon threat might be enough to cause white to run with one of his back checkers, further reducing our blotting rolls next turn.
