Double Fours to Play

In Response To: Double Fours to Play (Stick)

Candidate moves:

A) 13/5(2)

B) 13/9(2) 8/4(2)

C) 13/9(2) 6/2*(2)

D) 8/4(2) 6/2*(2)

Am I missing any? When playing doubles it's easy to only consider moves that move two checkers at once when often the best move involves playing from three different points or some other "asymmetrical" move. But I'm not seeing anything worth considering seriously. QF says it's something outre like 13/5 13/9 6/2* but I don't do QF.

A makes the five point, which is always an improvement, but leaves the six stacked. I think unstacking and hitting are so strong that 6/2*(2) should be part of the best play. Then 13/9(2) looks more flexible than 8/4(2) - the ensuing 2 4 6 8 structure is inflexible and weak.

13/9(2) 8/4(2) also looks strong and with the race lead maybe hitting is not all that necessary. But I don't like the stack on the six so I'll go with hitting.

13/9(2) 6/2*(2)
