My opinion is, that superbowl on the line, the buy-in worked. I can't imagine Wilson breaking the commitment to the coach's decision in this all-in situation. And the offensive coordinator said, he called the slant play. There are computer pictures that shows the POV of Wilson in an animation. What he couldn't see was the instant move of the rookie to the point of pass completion. And one step faster, Lockette would have had his back between Butler and the off target pass to guard against the interception. The point of pass completion was open. You can blame on Wilson not having the timing, like a pool player, just hitting the cueball a little bit to hard. And Lockette for not speedy enough. But look at Carrol's face after the first down, the clock running down. For me it's like "what's the heck is going on here?" And he scratched.
