I was more concerned though with how one would go about estimating the gammon percentages in a position like this...or in any position.

I was expecting something similar when you first posted the problem. The latter part of your inquiry is the root of the problem. If one doesn't generally practice estimating the wins and gammon breakdowns how can one hope to pull it out of his arse when he needs to?

If you divide positions up into types, early game blitzes, holding games, prime v. primes, races, etc...I have a great ballpark for the estimates on all of these positions having studied them in depth. If you constantly hone your skills by estimating as John does for example, then when it's time to do it you'll be able to do it. (and trust your numbers) Every position we come across won't fall neatly into one category but if you've taken the time and put in all that work you will still be able to make a decent estimate which is far better than going in blind or going solely on your gut.
