I've seen people try to sell props as fresh when the position was known, e.g.

"Hey, come look at this. Just happened in a match. What do you think?"

Svobo used to have pockets full of props where the sides were actually pretty close. It was a way of getting people to play him who wouldn't play him from the starting position.
