I'm actually a bit surprised to learn that you still prefer T here. After I learned that D was possible, I developed a definite preference for D, not just because one can use D independently of how many checkers are on the 8pt (as long as the opponent still owns her midpoint), but because a fourth checker on the 8pt is (usually) so useful that it doesn't feel like much of a stack/tower to me.
