In Response To: Rule changes (Steven E. Carey)

All of these are controversial if you bill them as rule changes, for the reasons that others have articulated.

None of them are controversial if you bill them as variations.

Inexperienced game designers often think that constant tinkering with the rules makes a game "better." They fail to recognize the costs associated with changing the rules of a well-established game.
