How to do 1296 Division Quickly and Accurately

Interesting article in the latest edition of USBGF magazine...I hope we can see more content like this.

The main idea is creative, but actually I found the alternate approach given at the end to be more appealing. The supposed downside of this alternate approach is it is harder to mentally multiply by 7.7%...but at least for me it is easier to first multiply by 7 and then scale up by 10%. Once I tried this, the supposed downside of more calculation didn't seem to be significant.

ex: 350/1296 ~3.5*7.7

3.5*7=24.5 scale up by 10%: 24.5+2.5=27%
