Interesting end game position. I guess that in positions like this there might frequently exist a difference between the DMP- and the unlimited (UNL) play. In UNL situations, gammons are decisive whereas in DMP situations gammons are completely irrelevant.

The diagram above shows an UNL score. Therefore, it is tempting to go for the gammons. I'd like to play 5/1* 4/1 volunteering a shot. I reckon that the GWC/Gammon-trade off supports that. By recirculating the exposed checkers there might be good chances to hit another white checker.

In a DMP situation, I'd neglect gammons entirely. Thus, the very safe 8/4 5/2 would be my choice since it probably provides the best GWC.

Unlimited: 5/1* 4/1
DMP: 8/4 5/2
