Grandmaster Webmaster Jacob "Stick" Rice

GRANDMASTER TITLE AWARDED TO JACOB “STICK” RICE
I have great pleasure in announcing that Jacob “Stick” Rice has been awarded the title of Grandmaster by virtue of his superb streamed match performances at American Backgammon Tour (ABT) tournaments since the start of 2015. Stick achieved the title of Grandmaster (Class 2) with an astonishing aggregate PR of 3.09, whilst meeting the experience threshold requirement for this grade. His most recent performances from New York and San Antonio this year indicate that he is a very strong candidate to achieve the Grandmaster (Class 1) level when he meets the experience threshold requirement of 200 EP (experience points).
Stick has made a major impact in the Backgammon World since becoming active ten years ago. As a player he has regularly been placed very highly as a “Giant” and has captained the World Team vs Denmark in the prestigious event held at the Nordic Open this year. He has developed a significant reputation as analyst, author and teaching professional (through the Backgammon Learning Centre). He created and manages BGOnline which is the leading international online forum. He also has a very significant role in the USBGF as a member of the Board of Governors and co-chair of the Joint Membership and Marketing Committee. His Gridgammon nickname is what one might expect, simply “Stick”.
Congratulations to Stick who through his superb performances has deservedly reached Grandmaster level joining twenty-five other great players who have previously reached this level!
