XG/GNUBG's 5/4 1/off(3) vs Snowie's 5/4(4)

Thank you for giving a more humble and expanded counter argument.

You say "with more checkers off the hits hurt less"

I say "If you risk getting hit less, you can do better with fewer checkers off"

White has such a high chance of gammon and thus finish this off right here right now that there is no reason to risk anything more than forced moves.

You need to realize that you are comparing two rolls (two X2's in a row) to one roll (one 65)... After two rolls, white has only one less checker off and it matters even less because of odd/even number of checkers left to bear off.

Even in the more favorable alternative possibility that I was generous enough to offer, 5/4 1/off(3) doesn't do any better.

I understand the implications of this being a GNUBG bug, inherited by XG through GPL code theft/copyright violation, and what else follows...

And I do sympathize with you "et.al."... :(

But it is what it is!
