You don't have to. But dropping your spare from the 8, and leaving 4 on the mid isn't structurally sound, imo. I prefer the 3 & 3 structure. Perhaps the white 5pt is too much and is worth the sacrifice, I don't know.

In my head 24/18(2) is mega forced, and the other 2 are up for grabs.
