Interview Questions - Format

I am glad you asked this, as one reason I have switched to video interviews recently is that most people have told me that is what they prefer. If you have seen my interview with Paul Weaver, where he plays the piano and shows us his new hobby, you will see and hear things you can't get from a written interview. Also, I would rather watch an interview myself than read one.
I am glad that people are asking what kinds of questions they would ask you....do me a favor and don't answer. I would love to interview you...we've talked about this long ago and you weren't excited about doing it...you are so shy some times!
The interview I would do with you would be very different than I do with most. I would pretty much let you run with it and you decide what topics you really want to cover. The problem is, it could be 6 hours long, and I try to keep all my interviews and videos to under an hour.
I got the idea for doing video interviews, or "video podcasts" from one of my students, and good friend, Robert Firring. He lives in a retirement community near Palm Springs and he does video podcasts and interviews, and he interviewed me and as a result, many of his followers have become interest in backgammon as we talked about why it is such a great game.
Another advantage of putting podcasts on YouTube is that they reach a broader audience, whereas the written interviews in USBGF magazine or Gammon Village are only seen by subscribers.
I do have an agreement with any place that publishes my interviews that after 60 days I can post them on Tom Keith's site, bkgm.com, and they are all archived there and he even puts links to the videos there. If you go there, you can read interviews with people that might surprise you and find most interesting.
Lastly, if you would like to "nominate" someone you think would be an excellent interview, shoot me an email. As you can see, I don't just interview people because they play backgammon well, but also because I find them interesting in other ways. Of course, it turns out that virtually all of the really top players I have known are, by no coincidence, extremely intelligent and diverse and interesting people and once you get them talking about subjects other than backgammon, they are even more interesting.
All suggestions and constructive criticisms are welcome and appreciated.
To watch my video interviews, simply go to YouTube and subscribe to my channel. In addition to interviews I do post matches and other things of interest to the backgammon community. I will tell you that I have attracted many people who were very casually interested in backgammon that are now actively involved in the game, so I think it is worth the effort.
