A black eye for advantage players?

You obviously have a lot of (painful) experience with video poker and you sound very knowledgeable.

I have to disagree about there being no such thing as an advantage player in video poker, or at least I can say there was such a thing. Progessive video poker machines can be an advantage, if they still have them. My wife used to like to play them, when she could find a seat on one that had positive equity, when we would go on backgammon trips to Vegas, and made a nice profit over the years. I have friends that have made a living playing those machines and other progressive slot machines over the years. I, personally, find them boring. Also, promotions can lead to a pretty big advantage for the player. For example, a casino may be giving 25%, or more, back of all losses with a stipulated amount of play. If the game is close to break even or a very small disadvantage to the player, this can be very lucrative. Also, getting a $1000 of comps for an amount of casino play with $500 of negative equity can be seen as advantage play and this is done by 100's of players. The latter seems to have been Paddock, although the story of him winning the big drawing(promotion) and having 5 million in gambling income (????) in 2015 suggests he may have used a combination of all three advantages. Who knows why he did what he did. It is hard to find rational reason for irrational behaviour, but I don't recall any other cases of gamblers, especially wealthy ones, doing anything like this and I hope I never hear of another one. It is very sad and I feel for all those that have suffered.

I love hearing your stories of your Vegas experiences. We need to have dinner, soon!
