'By no means does it appear to me that Paddock was an advantage player. Sure, he may have played at times when he did have an advantage but overall I believe he played, enjoyed it, and had the money to lose and didn't care.'

He certainly was at least an occasional promotion player and a consistent comp player, as the article states. Whether he made or lost money playing we do not know. Knowing that he he played for 20 years and had a 5 million dollar winning year in 2015 increases the chances, at the least, that he was at most a small loser, as a big loser would not last 20 years. I would guess he lost, but I would not be totally shocked if he won, as we do not have the full story. The fact that he was a heavy drinker and did not always play optimally, the latter of which is an unverified opinion, are the biggest marks against him. I cetainly would not be surprised if he did not lose an amount of money significantly greater in value to the comps and promotions he received. He could, easily, have been playing to a less than 1% disadvantage not counting comps and promotions, so including them, he could have been playing not that far from even. I have a friend that has been playing comps and promotions in the casinos for 20 years. He loses about $10,000 to $30,000 a year and gets comps worth about $50,000 a year. He basically travels and gambles and wines and dines very cheaply. There are many that do that. I have other friends that are advantage players that run teams and have made millions playing advantage machines in the past and now play mostly promotions.

I don't think you can really judge what or who he was as a gamlber and as a man, other than a sick one, until more information is discovered.
