Do you speak of 'Safe@Play' an educational Software build up from Roger Harboy (former addiction counsellor) and mathematics, to demystify the machines, showing the addicted player, what was going on?
By the way: Las Vegas ist controlling the play in an intense way. Each machine is tracked by software, the player himself ist tracked, to see, if he is a cheater or not. The behaviour of a 'high roller' ist tracked, to give him the comps he wanna, that he will stay as a customer. So if there are 'advanced' machine players with a positive equity, they may be even advertising, promo, to get the bread'n butter players hooked. Once again: this machines have nothing to do with gambling. Each sort of gambling has his unique procedures, a phenomenical structure. The euphoric high of a craps shooter is the s o c i a l response when he hits. And the response for a machine player is a limited set of rules to control, flickering lights, music, free plays (the zone will last longer), action every 3-4 seconds, and what the most insane thing is: the choice herself turns into a medium of compulsion and pressure, because within this 3-4 seconds you have to make several decisons. You are in a constant flow of choice 'as' pressure.
But this is now the heart of Las Vegas, their cash cows.
