Here I was expecting a post about bridge or pinochle, and find instead a backgammon problem!

I am not saying there are no other good plays at all those other scores. But what you asked was, "How do you play 52...", so I'm telling you that I'd likely play 8/3* 11/9 at all scores. It hits a second checker from a stacked point, and makes up for the new blot by consolidating two others to make the useful 9 point. I especially like hitting the second checker because if it isn't hit, it buys time to clean up some of the rest of the blots I've got flying around.

I don't like making the 4 point because it strips the 6 point, which could make the continuation difficult.

I suppose the double hit could be right at one of the gammon-hungry scores, but I wouldn't do it because I don't like it. Hmmph!
