If one ER system is inherently better than another of course you would want to use it. Why have a rougher guide than needed?

But what does "inherently better" even mean here? Backgammon skill is an inherently fuzzy concept.

There are lots of flavors of intelligence tests out there. Is one of them inherently best? Best for what? For measuring intelligence? What is intelligence? Why are you so keen on measuring it?

Who is the best soccer player of all time? Who is the world's most beautiful woman? Is there some metric for deciding these questions that is inherently better than all the others?

Seeking excessive precision where it doesn't buy you anything of importance is a misguided enterprise.
