I briefly wondered if Black should have doubled before the roll with his 17-pip lead, but I'm guessing not, and anyway it's not the problem presented.

With double 2s, making two inside points seems like overkill. It’s not worth risking the 6 shots with Black’s board as strong as it is, where a consistent follow-up (blitzing) would likely entail leaving another single shot or two.

I think this is mostly about reaching as close to a borderline take/pass as possible (taking the score into consideration) and it looks to me that 13/11(4) or 13/11 7/5*(3) is on the right track in that regard. I guess I’ll go with the latter, though between the two I’m not sure.

13/11(2) 4(2) concedes the 6pt spares and looks unnecessarily scrappy, and 13/9(2) just doesn’t look as strong – both plays are minor versions of the TMP (too many points) syndrome, which I alternatively call NES (not enough spares).
