You were right to be confused, Tim. I shuffled the paragraphs at some point and put the unmatching analysis (starting with "...and Blue) in the one comparing N and B.

The part of the paragraph that does match (and also answers your additional question is: "The 2pt is unimportant at this juncture (White is not about to leave a shot)..." That speaks volumes. You might end up playing a 4 or 6 to the 2pt anyway, or even using both 6pt spares to make the 3pt or 1pt; you can't know at this stage. It's premature to make the 2pt when Opp isn't leaving a shot and you have higher priorities.

20/18(2) and 13/11(2) work efficiently together. One releases the midpoint, the other recontacts it, and you end up blocking Opp's 20pt -- that's as good a deal as you can get.
