Unfair NFL overtime rules

The college games rules seem fair, (other than the 2nd team knowing exactly what they 'need'), but it isn't real football. It's like going directly to the shootout in hockey. I've always wondered how they decided to start each team INSIDE field goal range at the 25. That seems the most bizarre part of it to me. Start them on the 40 or something and make them actually gain yards to score.
Even though the coin flip is quite important it isn't THE determining factor. After reflection, I don't really mind that much how it works now. Lose the coin flip?? Stop whining and play DEFENSE!!
