So when we play now, I pay him 2 points whenever he does (and 1 point whenever he dances on a 2 point board) and he does the same for me

Over the many years, we are, of course, about even on who pays who.

I don't find this very "of course-ish" at all. It seems the payoff would be proportional to how often you are put on the bar against 1- or 2-point boards, which again depends on how you play. With this side bet active, slotting would be all the more profitable against 1- or 2-point boards, as being hit would gain a chance to earn off the side bet. Also, hitting a slot would be more costly as correspondingly this could make me have to pay off to the side bet.

If you work out the strategies properly, I am confident that this side bet will earn you money against someone who hasn't.
