Heh heh...if it's news to Keith then it surely isn't true.

But more seriously, my recollection is that the Keith count is actually worse than the Ward count for low pip counts. It seems most effective for those intermediate situations where most if not all of the checkers are still on the board but are distributed in some funny way where it's hard to estimate wastage. So limiting its use to when all the checkers are in the home board doesn't seem like a good idea.
