Exactly. The cost in being more easily attacked (on a higher point) increases with the number of blots lying around. By the same token, the cost of leaving the outfield blot increases the more easily the first blot can be attacked. I have found it to be an applicable axiom to many positions with one man back and/or when there is a blitz in the air.
